1) Don't Modify Your Car If Your a Bad Driver!

The company I worked at insured only "high risk" drivers so they were real particular about any customization and I mean any. If you had a $100 dec or some cheap rims or even if your car was lowered they wouldn't even provide coverage. Their reasoning was if the driver is a "high risk", their only adding to that risk by increasing the value of the vehicle. So if your a bad driver, your likely with an insurance company that rapes you, so don't let the rape continue when you have to file a claim and you are denied or hit with insurance fraud for not telling them about your mods.

2) If you do Mod

Keep every receipt, repeat keep every receipt, this is a must! Claims adjusters are just as anal as message board moderators and will either deny your claim for the mod parts, hit you with insurance fraud or give you back a "actual value" for them. "Actual value" really means 50 to 60% depreciation of what you actually paid for the part.

Secondly, take pictures of your vehicle. This isn't usually a problem for Honda owners anyway lol. I know I have like 1000 pics of my 05 rsx...ah what beauty. But take proper pictures of each mod ATTACHED to the car, not some part sitting on your garage floor or your Honda parked at a 90 degree angle in front of a
sunset. Why? In insurance any part attached to the car is considered part of the car, duh, so therefore you are insured for it. So if you have a cd in your dec and your dec or car gets stolen, you can be covered for that $14.99 cd that's in your dec. I believe this only covers two cds, but you get the point.

3) Be nice as hell to your claims adjuster. I never worked as an adjuster, but had friends in that department and they are a wild bunch. They also like all humans are prone to using their discretion. Read that again, discretion. This means even if your car looks like its going to compete in the Dakar rally, you MAY be able to get the full value for it in the event of a claim. But really you probably wont and will be hit with insurance fraud. But putting on the charm won't hurt.

4) The ultimate way to screw your insurance company is to shop around. Insurance companies hate this, because they want you to continue to give them "free money" for as long as you don't cost them a penny. But the truth is insurance companies change their pricing every year and regardless if you had a claim the previous year your insurance premium can still go up. Trust me on this one.

Also as Honda owners we know we are unfairly discriminated against by the insurance companies. I understand our vehicles are stolen more, so the theft coverage has to be high, but what about liability? I'm pretty sure Honda drivers are better than those Neon, opps I mean SRT drivers.
